Wildcard Wednesday: Signs of Spring......in review {Part 2}

Can you believe that spring is officially gone & summer is here?
The record number of 100+ temperatures here remind us that summer is definitely here!

A few weeks ago I reviewed the little touches of spring inside our house.

Outside, a little of our work (more of my hubby's than mine!), mixed with God's amazing work, resulted in a few spring changes, too.  Here are a few highlights.  {Click here, here & here for full posts.}

Goodbye, Spring!  Hello, Summer!

{We have a few new blooms these days, too.  As soon as I can bear the heat for a few minutes, I'll have to snap a few shots to share with you.  Hope all of my blogging friends are doing well.  I'm a little over 9 weeks now & the baby is doing great!  I'm hopeful to be back to blogland in a few weeks!   Thanks for your patience & prayers!}

Wildcard Wednesday: Just A Few More Signs of Spring......in the Garden

Okay, I know I told you I was almost finished with all of the "Signs of Spring", but more just keep popping up!  In the last couple weeks, we've had a few new blooms that I just have to share.

I love looking out my kitchen window while I'm cooking or doing dishes to see this.....
 ......and this......
 .....and this......

In the front yard, the bright yellow Daylilies are a nice greeting after a hard day at work.

And the pansies have enjoyed a few days of cooler weather.

And just one more to show you.  These were our very first peony blooms!
I love their soft pink color!
 Unfortunately, with the rain we've had & nothing to support them, the weight of their big, moppy heads caused them to do a head-dive into the surrounding dirt.......so we clipped them, washed them off, & brought them indoors to enjoy.
 They just might be my new favorite flower!

What is it about flowers that makes my happy?  That brings a smile to my face?
Is it their pop of color after a color-less winter?  Is it their fresh fragrance?  Is it because they signify new life.......new beginnings.....hope?  Is it because they point to an amazing Creator?
Maybe a little of everything.

What about you?  What is it about fresh blooms that you love?

Wildcard Wednesday: Signs of Spring.....On the Front Porch

Last week I took a little break from my "Signs of Spring" series to share some pics from this fabulous fashion show I attended.  {Check it out if you haven't already.  The dresses are amazing!}

But this week I have a little more spring to share......just a few changes to our front porch.  During the fall & winter, our front door typically displays a seasonal wreath, but the remainder of the year, it is usually bare.  This last week, however, I added a little SPRING to the front door.

{This pic is actually on the inside of our backdoor, off the kitchen.  This is where I hung it to put the arrangement together, & because of the grueling 95* heat outside, I decided to keep it there for a day or so, so that the flowers would still be fresh for company the next day!}

But on Mother's Day, it got moved to the front door to provide a "spring-filled" welcome.

 A mix of bright yellow daisies and hot pink roses add some much needed vibrant color to the door!

 {Distressing & refinishing the front door is another project on our LONG LIST of things to do.}

Now I'll back up a little so you can get a broader look at our front porch........you see the fountain on the right?  Mr. Dishaholic put that together last week!

{One of our VERY SOON projects is to install a cobblestone walkway in the area in front of the bed!}

Here's a better angle.

 Yes, Mr. Dishaholic is quite talented!

{Our sprinkler system was on while I was taking these pics, so it's just a little wet.}

He even put a LED light in it, so you can still see it at night!

And here's a little look at the flower bed that greets you as you walk up to the front door.

Well, that's it for now.  Thanks for stopping by.

Wildcard Wednesday: Signs of Spring......In the Garden

WE HAVE BLOOMS!

The last few weeks I've been sharing some of the signs of spring throughout my house....little touches here & there.....mostly decorations.....but this week we have the first TRUE signs of spring........
the first blooms of the season!

If you remember, a few weeks ago, I shared about the knockout roses & my anticipation of them blooming again soon.
Well, guess what?  They're here!
Not only did they start blooming this past week, but they took off with a vengeance.....

 There's something about the first blooms that just makes me giddy!  I love coming home after a hard day at work & pulling in the driveway to be greeted by all the colorful flowers!

We have a few other blooms in our front yard as well:

 And see that iron archway leading to our backyard?

Well, slowly we have some roses blooming on it as well......

.....and a couple more close by....

To give you a better idea, here's a few more pics of the yard:

{That's a globe blue spruce, but for some reason, in all the pics, it looks white!}

{You'll have to forgive the bags of mulch laying around....always a work in progress!}

And before I go, here's a few flowers my hubby brought home this week.
{Okay, I admit, I'm cheating a little because they're not actually planted yet, but I just couldn't wait.  Plus, I had to show off the new turquoise pot I recently purchased at TJ Maxx!  Have I mentioned how much I love turquoise?}

Happy Spring!
