Tablescape Thursday: Flowers ~N~ Flutters

Well, unfortunately, I wasn't as lucky as some of you whose posts magically re-appeared after blogger went all haywire.......so let's try this again!

The flowers appear on the earth; The time of the singing of birds is come.......
Song of Solomon 2:12 (ASV)

This past Sunday, Mr. Dishaholic & I had our families over to celebrate Mother's Day & my birthday (which was the following day).  So of course, my top priority (other than the food) was the tablescape!

Since we would be honoring our moms, I wanted a sweet, femine tablescape.

My idea for the table began when I was at Michael's a few weeks back & spotted these adorable little BIRDS, who were just begging for me to take them home & play with them!

And then it didn't take long to BLOSSOM into this:

I wanted to keep it light, & airy, so I chose a mix of soft pastel colors & crystal pieces.

Beginning with a neutral tablecloth, I added pale pink napkins & light lime green napkins as placemats, alternating between the two colors.
(I simply folded the top & bottom edges under to achieve the rectangular shape I was going for.)

Here's a closer look:

In keeping with the color scheme, I selected my Pearl Innocence china (my wedding china) to add a bit of formality.

 The cream scroll/dot pattern adds a little interest, while still keeping it neutral.
 I layered the opposite color napkin in between the dinner & salad plates to add some definition & a bit more color to each place setting.

Crystal goblets (which were handed down to me from my grandma) serve as a pedestal upon which the birds can perch.

Typically I seat our dads at the ends of the table, but since it was Mother's Day, I decided our moms needed to be seated in this place of honor.
Their place setting was adorned with these fantastic pink birds (my favorite).

I just love their long, feathery tails!

Other place settings received either this sweet, lime green bird......

.......or this glittery pink bird.

{This one looks a little snooty, don't you think?}

I used glittery butterfly clips as place card holders {the clip on the back provided the perfect backing so that they could stand on their own!}

 Each place setting also included a silver rimmed goblet (which coordinates with the silver rims of the china) and my antiqued silver flatware.

Just above the plates rests a coordinating teaspoon.

For the centerpiece, I re-used my manzanita "tree" from my Easter tablescape, exchanging the eggs & postcards for daisies, butterflies, birds, & hummingbirds (anything that "flutters").

 The base was filled with faux cream hydrangeas, with just a touch of pale pink.

A couple of butterflies landed on the hydrangeas to add a little sparkle.

On either side of the "tree," a crystal bowl was filled with fresh spider mums and pale pink & green roses.

 As if you haven't already seen enough photos, here's a few more:

The menu for the day consisted of the following:
Garden Salad
Creamy, Crunchy Chicken (recipe to come soon)
Glazed Carrots (made by my MIL)
Italian Green Beans (also made my my MIL)

Baked Squash (also made by my mom)
